About Caring Hands Center
Caring Hands Center Limited is a youth led mental health NGO registered with the Council for NGOs in Malawi (CONGOMA), Non-Governmental Organizations Board of Malawi (NGO Board) and the Malawi Government under the Companies Incorporation Act. We promote mental health awareness and the importance of a healthy mental wellbeing. The aim is to promote a society in which everyone can benefit from good mental health.
We identify youth who are traumatized through our sensitization programs, we provide mental health support to them, offer other support to cater for their basic needs, and find homes for them.
Our goal is to restore hope to individuals, especially young people going through post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and other forms of mental health issues, to help them realize their full potential and have greater control over their lives and ultimately contribute positively to their communities.

Creating awareness to the youths on how they can access mental health services
Conducting television and radio programs to raise awareness of mental health related issues
To promote mental health awareness and positive mental well-being
Youth engagement with various youths in districts to stimulate youths to speak out on mental health issues
Provide psychosocial support to individuals with mental health disorders
How we do it
Our Approach
We identify burning and trending issues around mental health and conduct awareness activities tailor made to specific topics targeting the masses. During and after the sensitization programs we offer psychological first aid treatment. This includes consultations, one on one counseling and tailored group therapy sessions
We utilize technology and arts in the delivery of our service to address challenges. We target the simplest and easy to understand methods by the youth like pictures, videos, music, poetry, drama, Applications, question tags, myths, social media posts, and we are working on a Toll free line for reporting cases and interacting with service providers.
We believe in partnerships with other key players in the mental health sector, we partner on projects and we have a referral system that we use through our partners where we refer patients to them in most extreme psychotic cases and when we are overwhelmed. Just to make sure everyone benefits from good mental health. We also analyze policies and advocate for better policies.
